Tim Peck Young Scientist Award 2007

 

  1. The criteria for the nomination and selection are:
    1. The award will be made to a young scientist who has made or is making a significant contribution to research on the field of forestry and forest industries;
    2. The research can be an EFI project or part of one and should be aimed at an EFI priority. The nominee should be working at Joensuu or at Regional Project Centre or with a partner institution involved in a project together with EFI. Also, nominees working at an EFI member institution on a project relevant to EFI's mission are eligible;
    3. The design and execution of the project should clearly show that the nominee has taken into account the target information users' needs and how to meet them and the way in which the results should be applied;
    4. The definition of 'young' can be reasonably flexible, but the nominee should be climbing the research ladder and not yet near the top.

  2. Invitations to make nominations will be circulated widely by the EFI secretariat in the spring of each year, e.g. through internet to EFI Members and participants in EFI projects, EFI News, etc.

  3. Nominations may be made by representatives of EFI members, research colleagues (not necessarily involved in the same EFI project as the nominee) or members of the secretariat. They should be submitted to the Foundation by 30 April 2007, using the form found below.

  4. Nominations will be assessed by the SAB, which will provide a list of not more than three names, ranked in order of preference. The Director of EFI, in consultation with the EFI Board Chairman, will make the final proposal for the decision to the Board of the Foundation by the end of June.

  5. The winner of the award will be announced at the EFI Annual Conference. If possible he/she should be present to accept the award and be given time to present his/her work to the Conference.

  6. The fund will be administered by the European Forest Research Foundation.

  7. The amount of the annual award will be 2000 euro.
